Our Commitment
We have 20 Years experience in Beekeeping and we are still wondering if we really keep the Bees or if they only let us belief we do. Our foremost priority is keeping healthy, thriving colonies as close to their natural way as possible. Maybe in return they then give us some surplus natural raw honey, rewarding our efforts.
We keep our bees in wooden hives, avoiding plastics and polystyrene, as this is where they would nest in nature, hollow trees and wood cavities. Varroa mites, a deadly enemy of our honeybees, are very often treated with harmful chemicals, sometimes even insecticides that are introduced into the colony. We aim to work within the lifecycle of the bee colony and it’s challenges and use only a minimum amount of natural organic acids, to keep our bees healthy.
We only sell what we produce from our own colonies, we don’t adulterate or dilute our Honey and we take nothing out of our Honey.
We only use Beeswax produced by our own bees to avoid introducing Beeswax into our hives that’s adulterated or chemically contaminated, potentially affecting the purity of the honey. (see links under Beeswax).
Honey is very sensitive to heat, light and moisture. The Vitamins, enzymes and countless healthy components in Honey have to be protected. Everything we produce is handled with the perseverance of all the goodness in mind.
Understanding their environment and nature and respecting the lifecycle of the honeybee and the threats they are facing is what should define modern beekeeping. Avoiding the use of, unfortunately broadly, used harmful chemicals or even insecticides on our colonies is a priority. We are a small enterprise and are able to use time consuming natural ways to keep our bees happy and healthy, and the Honey as pure as can possibly bee.
